About

Bovine Social Club has been lighting up audiences with their original music in listening rooms, famed coffee houses, theaters, and amphitheaters from Vermont to Virginia since 2012. Their unique blend of folk music is informed by Celtic, old time, Gospel, country, and bluegrass vocabularies. Formed on the banks of the Delaware River, the band’s rotating lineup of seasoned musicians backs the thoughtful lyrics of vocalist, philosopher, memoirist and former Franciscan brother, Samuel Saint Thomas.

Their debut CD, produced by Railroad Earth’s Tim Carbone, charted at #7 on both the Roots and Americana charts. BSC is one of the most highly respected Americana bands in the Northeast, sharing stages with some of the region’s finest talent. Their most recent release “Live at Mauch Chunk Opera House” was recorded at the legendary vaudeville venue in the historic town of Jim Thorpe, PA with their friends from Railroad Earth.

What They’re Sayin’

The Bovine Waits “show, “Clap Hands”, is a particularly good idea. And it, indeed, turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Given Waits’ theatrical tendencies, it was fitting that the band, led by singer-guitarist Samuel Saint Thomas, added some theatrical flourishes to the music.”

BSC combines poetic mentality, deep grooves, A-list song writing, and a musical sense of humor that leaves you with that “what are they gonna do next good time feeling.

Bovine Social Club is Pure Americana. Led by Samuel Saint Thomas and his moonshine-weathered vocals, this homespun band of brothers sings of picnics and jamborees while wearing their Raybans proudly! They are country cool!

Live at Mauch Chunk Opera House captures the essence of Bovine Social Club’s live vibe with their detailed musical expression and pensive, yet humorous lyrics. Bovine Social Club has mastered the art of distinctiveness while synchronously continuing the tradition of including a cast of guest players.

Every now and then you discover debut albums that deliver the goods. This one puts everything away in the cupboards, washes the windows, breaks your heart, makes you smile, slaps you on the fanny, and tucks you into bed. With a worldgrass vibe and grittiness all of their own that’s nothing but real, Bovine Social Club’s self-titled debut album is ten tracks of fun, fun, fun.
